Háu Haƞkáši (Hello female-cousin)**
Háu Lekší (Hello uncle)
Háu Tȟuƞwíƞ (Hello auntie)
Wakinyan Waanatan (Matt Remle)
*For Dakota and Nakota dialect speakers simply change the “L” with “D” or “N”. For example: Lekší (Lakota), Dekší (Dakota), Nekší (Nakota)
**When meeting someone for the first time one would greet each other using the correct “cousin” gender term. If they discovered they were related, or they were to become snags, a different kinship, or relationship, term was used.
