For Immediate Release: Drezus Releases New Album “Indian Summer” and Official Video for the first single “Warpath”
Drezus (Cree and Saulteaux First Nations) has spent the last nine months of 2014 working feverishly on his highly anticipated follow up to the 2013 Apmca winning album “Redwinter”. With major support from Nato at Up in Arms Studios, Drezus set out to musically crush any work he had done prior. The first single “Warpath” leads the pack, a relentless war ballad showcasing the true warrior spirit of his people, with Stuey Kubrick directing the official video.
“In the opening shot of “Warpath”, someone paints a white hand over aboriginal rapper Drezus’s mouth….Drezus is only part of a growing movement of Native American rappers who are providing voice for one of the most marginalized groups in our society. And in the process, they’re making the truest hip hop we have.” -Tom Barnes, Mic.com
Indian Summer opens with a cree prayer and is a reflection of love, anger, injustice, family, culture and the overall struggles and experiences that made Drezus who he is today. Deeply rooted by his native identity, Drezus has put together a north american classic. Enlisting producers like 2oolman, Stomp, Jaymak, Superville, Vokab and Flight Academy he aims to set a new standard for hip hop with a lane all to himself. He wears the pride of his people well throughout the album, effortlessly recounting stories through rhyme and reason. The album features heavyweights like Merkules, Joey Stylez, Inez Jasper, Lightning Cloud, Sese, K-Riz, Hellnback, Samson T and Big Slim. Executive produced by Drezus and co-produced by Nato.
Since Drezus branched out on his own solo career he has been on a “Warpath” creating a rapidly growing fanbase that has now reached overseas and is creating a heavy online buzz. Drezus says “as a music fan myself, I truly believe that this is an album hip hop fans have been waiting for.” Indian Summer is available on iTunes on October 7th.
