Registration is now open for the 2016 Lakota Summer Institute to be held June 6-24th at Sitting Bull College located in Fort Yates on the Standing Rock Sioux reservation. The Lakota Summer Institute is a one of a kind opportunity for Lakota language teachers and learners!
In 2007, Sitting Bull College opened its doors to the Lakȟótiyapi Summer Institute (LSI). LSI was created in a joint partnership between the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Sitting Bull College and the Lakota Language Consortium as an opportunity to bring together Lakota/Dakota teachers, speakers and learners.
The Lakota Summer Institute is three weeks of digging into how the Lakota/Dakota language works – and how switching over to “Lakota thinking” can transform you.

How can this be accessible to those off reservation?
I am a member of the standing rock, and I am living in Seattle Washington, but need this. Others around me are invested in doing this for themselves and their families. We need some help bringing this to this side.
I send this with love and an open mind, heart and spirit, and I know if we really want this to take shape it will. I extend my hand to this program and am asking for your assistance. Omakiya.
