San Francisco, CA- Pacific Northwest Indigenous artivist, Calina Lawrence, will release her debut album “EPICENTER,” on August 17th, 2018.
As a tribute to those who have supported her along her musical journey, Lawrence will perform a special sneak peak, Album Release Dinner Party, at the Brava Theater in the Mission District of San Francisco on August 11th, which sold out in less than 48 hours. Her album and release party will feature Bay Area artists such as Equipto, 15-year old ‘Deya, DJ Leydis, and more.
An enrolled member of the Suquamish Tribe, Calina Lawrence was born and raised within her Indigenous culture in the Pacific Northwest area of Washington State.
Her vocal journey began at a young age and later led her to activism in the cities of Seattle, San Francisco, and Oakland. Earlier this year, she was one of eight activists to accompany celebrity actresses at the Golden Globes, in solidarity with the Time’s Up Movement. The art-ivist has spent recent time traveling the country in advocacy for Native Treaty Rights and the “Mni Wiconi” (Water is Life) movement led by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe as well as the “NoLNG253” movement led by the Puyallup Tribe.
“Epicenter represents the intersection of my life story as a Pacific Northwest Native woman and the Bay Area birth place of my musical journey, where this album was inspired, written, and produced.” -Calina Lawrence
