Eagle Butte, SD — March 16, 2017 – Yesterday the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe filed an emergency motion for injunction pending appeal in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to stop the flow of oil in the Dakota Access Pipeline under Lake Oahe while the appeals court considers the Tribe’s challenge pursuant to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (“RFRA”). Cheyenne River Chairman’s Reaction to Easement approval from Army Corps of Engineers to build oil pipeline across the Missouri River

Earlier today the Army Corps of Engineers (ACoE) sent notice to Congress of the intent to grant an easement to Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). According to the notice the ACoE plans to waive all waiting policies so DAPL can begin in as little as 24 hours. Continue reading
