On April 1st, 2016 the Sacred Stone Camp was erected to oppose the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. The camp, along with the Oceti Sakowin Camp, helped bring global awareness to Indigenous peoples and the fight against environmental racism, protecting treaty rights and water protection. Cheyenne River Chairman’s Reaction to Easement approval from Army Corps of Engineers to build oil pipeline across the Missouri River

Earlier today the Army Corps of Engineers (ACoE) sent notice to Congress of the intent to grant an easement to Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). According to the notice the ACoE plans to waive all waiting policies so DAPL can begin in as little as 24 hours. Continue reading
