Sacred Sites Bears Ears and Gold Butte Designated as National Monuments
Today, President Obama signed a proclamation designating the sacred sites, Bears Ears and Gold Butte, as National Monuments. Bears Ears, sacred to the Diné, Hopi, Ute, and Zuni houses numerous ceremonial sites, ancient cliff dwellings, rock art and contains numerous cultural artifacts. Gold Butte, sacred to Paiute’s also contains numerous sites of historical and cultural significance. Continue reading
